Bo Li
CEO & Co-founder, Virtue AI
Bo Li is the CEO and co-founder of Virtue AI and an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She founded Virtue AI in 2024 to build commercial solutions for trustworthy AI, translating her academic research into products that help organizations deploy AI systems that are safe, reliable, and fair.
Li's academic research focuses on trustworthy machine learning, including adversarial robustness (making AI systems resistant to manipulation), differential privacy (protecting user data in AI training), and fairness (ensuring AI systems don't discriminate). She has published prolifically at top AI conferences including NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR.
She holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and previously worked as a research assistant in the university's EECS department. She has received the IJCAI Computers and Thought Award and numerous other research honors.
Her dual role as academic researcher and startup CEO positions her uniquely at the intersection of AI safety theory and practice.
